Little Man - Final Thoughts

They’ve given us White Chicks and are responsible for the countless (Insert Genre Here) Movies… so what were the Wayans Brothers hoping to achieve with this movie? Were they trying to step away from dressing up as white women? Were they trying to make people forget that they are to blame for all of the terrible spoof movies that have been released over the past decade? Were they just trying to piss us all off even more than what they already have?
The review went up on Tuesday (sorry it wasn’t earlier my internet crapped out on me) so let’s put this heap of garbage through the incinerator and start off the long weekend (for Americans because it’s July 4th for them).
The Loathes:
The movie was about a short man who pretends to be a baby… fair enough the plot sucks but it wasn’t the plot that really annoyed me. The one thing that stands out the most in the whole movie is the fact that they superimposed the head of one of the Wayans Brothers onto the body of a small child / midget. Why didn’t they just have a ten year old play an adult who never aged - it maybe unbelievable but it was more realistic than what we got to see. Here’s another thought, why not have a midget play the role of Calvin but have him look really young? Instead they decided to do something else which would have made the whole making of the movie a lot more difficult.
Oh how I love it when a movie has to repeat the same joke over and over again. Sometimes the joke is pretty funny, then it becomes less funny when repeated and finally you get really annoyed at it. In this movie we were treated to about ten ball-hitting jokes and it wasn’t funny the first time. The writers really must have been dry retching for ideas if they had to repeat the same joke over again.
I’ve seen stupid endings before in movies but I think this one took the cake. So this movie is about this criminal who is small and pretends to be a baby right? He hides a diamond with a couple, where the husband is desperate to have a baby. They find him (the criminal) dressed as a baby and take him into their home. At the end, when the husband finds out about what’s going on, he is cool with that. I don’t know about you but if I were that guy and I had my heart ripped out of my chest when I found out the hideous ugly baby I was caring for all this time, and treated as my own son as well, turned out to be a hideous ugly midget… I’d beat the CRAP out of him.
The Likes:
The character of Greg was pretty funny because he was one of those rough jock-types of people. His wife was uber hot as well… and that’s all I liked about the movie.
The Plot / Script:
A midget criminal dumps a diamond inside a young couple’s bag. In order to get the diamond back, the criminal disguises himself as a baby and pretends he has been abandoned on their doorsteps. The male of the couple pours his heart out thinking the little guy is a real child. Trouble arises when the Mafia comes after the family for the diamond, forcing the little criminal to defend his family.
It sounds as bad as it reads Bucket Heads and I don’t know what these guys were smoking when they thought it would make a good idea. The script was written poorly and wasn’t funny at all. The plot in general is really stupid – how can everyone even a doctor be tricked into thinking a midget is a child? Yeah I know it’s meant to be a stupid comedy but come on… I’ve seen a lot of comedies before with a lot smarter people in them. I would have thought the tattoo or having the body of a thirty year old would give the whole thing away.
The Actors:
The Wayans Brothers were just as funny as they were in White Chicks – and by that I mean not funny at all. Everyone else in this movie was just as boring as one another. If I had to give an Oscar to anyone in this movie it would have been the tree because they were more entertaining than anyone. I liked the actor who played Greg, because he played a moron well, and I loved his hot wife… only because she is hot.
Final Thoughts:
It was really annoying to sit through this movie watching one bad joke after another. It was further annoying watching a midget walk around with a CGI animated head. It amazes me how easy it is to make a really bad comedy movie these days. It’s rare to find an actual funny movie today with most comedies coming out end up like this heap of crap.
Little Man failed to make me laugh – well at least the main characters of the movie did. If the only thing I found funny in that movie was the moronic white guy something is going wrong. I know the Wayans Brothers can do better judging from I have heard people say, both here and in the real world, so let’s hope they stop with the garbage and actually start producing something witty. I would suggest watching this movie if you found crap like White Chicks and (Insert Genre Here) Movie funny.
That’s it for me for this week. I won’t be having a new review up this week as I am going to be locking myself inside my room for a few days watching a whole new batch of crappy movies. I’ll be posting up some synopsises on some old movies as well as continuing my posts on movies based on video games. Until then, have a safe and fun weekend and a Happy Independence Day to all Americans out there.
